National Salsa Month

Summer is almost here and May is National Salsa Month!

For those who don't know much about salsa, it translates to "sauce" and its origins trace back as far as the Aztec civilization! Thanks to it's fresh and healthy ingredients, salsa replaced ketchup as the top selling condiment in North America in 1997.

I'm not sure how this monthly holiday came about, but who cares, we love it. With Cinco de Mayo this weekend, it's time to really get our fill of Mexican flavors; starting with - salsa!

Salsa is seen as many things, a dip, a party food, an ingredient and to some a condiment. It makes a wonderful snack, is a must-have at any party, and can easily jazz up boring old recipes.

Chiles are the main ingredient in most salsa's. Adding othere ingredients will create a delicious salsa that can be used with chips to meat.

If you are culinary challenged there are terrific recipes online or you can check this site daily for a salsa recipe through the month of May. Salsa makes everything better!
